Health Recovery Services Bassett House provides residential substance addiction and mental health treatment for adolescents aged 13 to 18 in Athens, Ohio. Guests won’t find a sterile hospital environment here. The house is located in a rural, welcoming setting. The atmosphere is peaceful and residents can feel relaxed and ready for recovery.
The experience promotes trust and accountability. Bassett House is an unlocked, safe environment where youth can focus on skills that help them improve their lives and be successful in recovery.
Their program is concentrated on empowering you with motivational techniques and goal setting. They also offer 12-step fellowships that generate community and camaraderie with people who understand your struggles with substance use.
They have education programs on campus so guests can continue pursuing academic studies during treatment. The staff collaborates with the client’s local home school so they won’t fall behind and can work toward a GED if they’d like.
You won’t get bogged down in only traditional therapies at Bassett House. They also offer holistic approaches like gardening, crochet and art. These offer excellent ways to stay busy and engaged in treatment. Gardening can provide movement and exercise and help with stress reduction and pain relief. If you want to get out in nature and take a walk or run then they have open fields with lush scenery where you can get some fresh air and enjoy the outdoors.
There are also sober events like park days, spending time at the pool and holiday festivities. You’ll stay active, have some fun and find outlets that promote relaxation while you work on sobriety.
Bassett House continues to help with sobriety efforts by offering aftercare services. Guests and parents participate in the plan to ensure it’s realistic and allows them to continue working on recovery after treatment.
