About Harris House Traditional Housing Program
Harris House is in St Louis, Missouri. They provide a full range of addiction treatment options, including residential care and outpatient programs. This nonprofit organization has been around for over 50 years. They accept many insurance providers and work with clients to get the most you can out of their coverage.
Priority admission is for people who have graduated from the intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Harris House. If you’re new to Harris House, you’ll need a screening interview and be placed on a waiting list. You’ll really need to be dedicated to get a spot at Harris House because you’ll need to call weekly to keep your spot on the waiting list.
The transitional housing level one program provides ongoing alcohol and drug addiction treatment. Classes help clients develop insight into navigating triggers, and discuss topics like anger management, trauma recovery, stress management, parenting skills, and family reunification. Additionally, they learn resume preparation, job targeting, and interview skills.
You’ll get eight hours of classes or group sessions each week. Classes on relapse prevention, identifying triggers, anger and stress management, parenting skills and more are available. I like that they focus on job readiness and will help you prepare your resume and practice interviewing. Individual counseling sessions also take place weekly.
The transitional housing level two program provides subsidized housing with separate male and female residences. No meals are included, however, residents learn how to prepare food on their own. Residents must be employed when they enter this program and meet with their counselor once a month.
