About Great Falls Rescue Mission Mens Shelter

Great Falls Rescue Mission in Great Falls, Montana offers emergency services, addiction recovery and youth outreach for adolescents and adults. They are a non-profit Christian organization that focuses on helping the hungry, the homeless and the hurting.

They run a men's shelter that offers free addiction recovery in a residential setting. This is a long-term program that requires a 16-month commitment from participants. This program will help transform men through the power of living a Godly life. There's also an additional transitional phase that can last up to two years.

You'll need to call to apply for this program. Once you are admitted, you'll spend your time participating in life skills classes, Biblical counseling and work therapy. I like that this approach touches many different aspects of recovery. The life skills and work therapy aspect gives men tools that they will use once they leave treatment. Residents will learn job skills that include commitment, a sense of accomplishment and have a solid reference when they are ready to move on.

Work therapy is one way that this men’s shelter is funded. Residents work at one of several community partners which pay the Mission for the work. These funds help cover the cost of treatment.

I like that this program is at least 16 months long so that residents have a chance to put some distance between their pasts and their future. They’ll develop habits that will serve them as a strong foundation once they exit the program.

Once you finish the 16-month program, you can enter the transitional phase. This is called Disciple Leadership Pathway and can last for an additional two year.
