About Gateway Healthcare Providence

Gateway Healthcare is part of Brown Health University and is located in metropolitan Providence, Rhode Island. The Providence River isn’t too far away. They give mental health and addiction treatment, with co-occurring disorder treatment available, too.

Levels of care here are residential treatment and intensive and general outpatient programs. One thing I find unique about their program is that their residential programs include shared residences and apartments. They also have a program for homeless individuals as well as veterans and armed service members.

Gateway Healthcare accepts some insurance plans. However, they also have financial assistance programs, including a sliding fee scale, to help those who are without insurance or underinsured.

This location pairs clinical counseling with social support. For example, peer support plays a role in their treatment and recovery programs. You'll develop a sense of community and feel empowered as you learn from and lend help to others in treatment.

Some of their outpatient services are available at different locations in the community. I like how accessible this makes care for those who might have trouble traveling.

I think it's also worth drawing attention to the support services they offer in residential treatment. In addition to 24 help from staff, you'll receive assistance developing everyday life skills. This includes areas like money management and shopping for groceries, skills that will help you maintain balance while reaching your goals.

They can also link you with additional medical care services, which I consider a big plus. This may include other Brown Health University programs or other community providers.

Last, but not least, they're also approved by the state to provide DUI courses and education. These classes must be attended by court order. Upon completion of the program, you can have your license reinstated.
