About Freedom House Recovery Center Durham Mens Halfway House
Freedom House Recovery Center is a nonprofit organization that provides services for adults and youths in North Carolina. They have a variety of outpatient substance abuse clinics that offer medication assisted treatment. They also feature crisis services mobile teams, and operate halfway houses.
In Durham, they have separate halfway houses for men and women. Clients can live up to 6 months in these safe and structured sober homes. These halfway houses have a clinical aspect that includes providing behavioral and primary medical healthcare for each resident. These homes serve a wide range of people and are accessible regardless of their ability to pay.
During your stay in one of these houses, you will learn job and life skills as you become stable in your sobriety. The goal of this home is to help you reestablish your Independence. You'll learn to get a job to provide for your basic needs like food, housing and other necessary expenses. You'll learn how to advocate for yourself and your family members.
As a resident, you'll have to follow the house rules which may include daily and weekly chores, participate in a certain number of 12 Step support groups each week, and continue with MAT or other treatment programs. In most cases, you'll live in a shared bedroom with access to a communal kitchen and living spaces.
Staff will work with you step by step to move you closer to graduation from the program. Graduating from Freedom House means that you have gained the skills to stay sober and live independently as part of the community.
