About First Step

First Step is an outpatient drug and alcohol rehab and dual diagnosis care center for adults in Lincoln, Nebraska. Their services include telehealth care, medically supervised ambulatory detox, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), standard outpatient programs (OP), and aftercare services. They also offer specialized programming for young adults, military personnel, seniors, LGBTQ+ persons, and persons with hearing impairment.

Clients receive medical and mental health assessments, personalized care planning, and comprehensive case management. Those enrolled in the MAT program may choose from a variety of treatment options, including methadone, buprenorphine, and/or Vivitrol induction and maintenance. Clients also engage in intensive, trauma-informed individual, group, and family counseling that draws on proven modalities, including CBT, DBT, REBT, and motivational interviewing. The program promotes clients’ sustained sobriety through robust recovery-focused life-skills training that addresses topics such as coping, self-care, anger and stress management, disease and medication management, and relapse prevention.

First Step aftercare services ensure a complete continuum of care aligned with clients’ evolving needs. These services may include 12-Step program facilitation and referrals for medical, mental health, and social service programs. First Step is accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed by the state of Nebraska.
