Pickaway Area Recovery Services (PARS) runs Lancaster Recovery Services, a treatment center in a quiet suburban corner of Lancaster, Ohio. They provide outpatient mental health and addiction treatment as well as specialized treatment for gambling issues, jail treatment programs, and services for youth.
Targeted Treatment for Youth in Lancaster
The juvenile program at Lancaster Recovery Services uses a range of evidence based treatment options. Along with motivational interviewing (MI) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), they have the Matrix Curriculum and Living in Balance Curriculum.
They use a trauma informed approach to counseling for youth and can address mental health and addiction issues. That includes mood disorders, adjustments to life changes, and behavioral concerns. The goal is to empower young people and build positive self esteem. This can be supplemented off site at the Fairfield County District Library, just a block over, or unwinding at Miller Park.
In Reach Jail Treatment Programs
I was impressed that Lancaster Recovery offers in-jail treatment in three counties, Pickaway, Fayette, and Fairfield. This program provides diagnostic assessments and group therapy.
The counseling uses evidence based treatment approaches as well as education about anger management and codependency. This helps inmates prepare to build positive and healthy relationships once they’re released, sets the stage for healthier choices, and perhaps seek more intensive treatment for addiction and/or mental health.
