About Emass
EMASS is a privately owned behavioral health center headquartered in Saint Charles, Missouri. They provide various services for the Courts, Criminal Justice System and judicial involved individuals dealing with substance use disorder.
Their program includes substance use evaluation and screening, drug and alcohol education classes and substance use disorder intervention. EMASS is certified by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse to conduct SATOP evaluation and operate SATOP classes.
SATOP or Substance Awareness Traffic Offender Program is designed for DUI offenders. Or those previously convicted of similar drug and alcohol related charges. This program typically combines classes, counseling and follow-up care tailored to the severity of an individual's substance addiction or legal issues.
Services range from assessment to addiction education and intervention or treatment. This helps the client address their substance addiction problems and minimize the risk of repeat offenses. EMASS’s SATOP class is a multilevel course that screens and refers offenders to appropriate levels of education, intervention or treatment.
Other alcohol and drug education classes include ADEP and REACT. The Adolescent Diversion Education Program or ADEP is a 10-hour educational program for minors convicted of alcohol-related offenses or needing license reinstatement. This program covers the effects of various substances, including alcohol, marijuana, and narcotics. Required Educational Assessment and Community
Treatment or REACT is a statewide network offering education and treatment for felony drug offenses. Services include initial screening and referrals to appropriate educational or treatment programs. EMASS also provides domestic violence education and intervention, anger management classes and mental health evaluation.
These programs are directly or indirectly linked to substance use disorder. Others are probation supervision and referral services, driver improvement and parenting classes and theft prevention programs. These programs facilitate rehabilitation by tackling the underlying behavioral and mental health issues that contribute to legal problems.
In the long term, this helps reduce recidivism, promote healthier lifestyles and support successful reintegration into society. Comments among past clients reflect mixed experiences. Most complained about their poor quality of service, citing, among other things, unprofessionalism on the part of the staff. Still, some commend the facility for their fast and impressive service delivery.
