About Sarpy County Diversion Services
Sarpy County Diversion Services are based out of Papillion, Nebraska. They offer addiction and behavioral health services for people of all ages, as well as co-occurring disorder services. These are general outpatient programs. Diversion programs are pre-trial alternatives to criminal charges stemming from mental health or addiction. By completing a diversion program, you can avoid criminal charges and potential convictions. However, it means meeting all the requirements of the program, including making your court appearances. Insurance doesn't cover the costs of these programs. A fee schedule is available that shows how much you will pay.
The goal of diversion programs is to give offenders the support and education to change behaviors and prevent future offenses. Sarpy County's diversion programs serve those with DUI offenses and drug possession offenses, among other things.
Programs can last up to six months. You'll be connected with resources that teach you how to manage and cope with symptoms while maintaining sobriety. This is in addition to education groups (at least in the case of DUI) designed to change your behavior for the better. So not only will you be avoiding a potentially devastating trial and sentence, but you'll be working toward long term improvement.
What's unique about Sarpy County's programs is that they are individualized. While they work toward the same goals and thus hit on the same points, there's a level of personalization that acknowledges your needs and experiences. That's in stark contrast to other diversion programs that attempt a "one size fits all" approach.
