About Cowlitz Indian Tribe

Cowlitz Indian Tribe Health and Human Services in Vancouver, Washington, is a treatment facility that’s open to the community. Federally recognized Native Americans and Alaska Natives can receive outpatient services for free.

Medicaid and Medicare provide coverage for some but not all programs. Financial assistance with treatment is available through grants, scholarships, non-profit programs, and Washington Apple Health coverage if eligible.

Placing You on the Road to Recovery

Services and programs offered include assessments for biopsychosocial conditions and DUIs. Sessions are offered as individual or as pretreatment groups. Gambling addiction is treated in addition to substance abuse. Services available include intensive outpatient (IOP) and inpatient bed placement and referral.

The Teen and Adolescent Program offers family therapy, residential programs, sober living homes, recovery support groups, and social skills development. Moral reconation therapy (MRT), offered at this location, reduces reoffending of clients involved in the court system by augmenting moral reasoning and encouraging behavioral changes.

Care after rehab consists of relapse prevention, seeking safety, and a cultural appropriate curriculum with elder’s traditional teachings, life skills groups, and The Red Road to Wellbriety group. Youth aftercare services are available in addition to the Healing of the Canoe Youth Prevention Program.

Additional assistance offered includes childcare services, transportation assistance, and positive parenting classes. In person appointments are available Monday through Friday and Telehealth appointments are available on Saturdays.

Healing in Your Own Space

This CARF-accredited facility provides a private rehab with a private room for each client, customized forms of therapy, and high staff-to-client ratio. Men’s and women’s rehabs offer a more comfortable environment with aftercare and alumni programs available for ongoing support after treatment completion.

A bus stop and RV Inn Resort are located across the street from the facility. After a session clients can relax at the Athena Day Spa across the street or visit the Vancouver Lake Regional Park which features a waterfront with a beach.

This facility offers a unique experience with cultural healing practices being used as part of the treatment for clients. Staff are known for remembering client’s names and have warm dispositions. The clinic is inviting with alternating drawings on windows. Counselors have been known to advocate for clients with client best interest and well-being in mind.
