About Connections CSP Incp – Closed

Connections Community Support Programs of Newark, Delaware was a prolific mental health and substance abuse treatment provider before its closure. They provided many levels of care, including detox, sober living homes, and gender specific rehab. They were dedicated to responding to the needs of the community with new and evolving programs.

Notably, they remained responsive to the opioid epidemic during their time in business. Staff utilized MAT alongside traditional and holistic options to treat this severe addiction and help clients cultivate resilience.

While this facility is unfortunately closed, you can still find similar programs in the Newark area.

Crisis Navigation for Youth

One of the more unique aspects of this program that I noticed was the Crisis Sturmfel’s Youth Center, a residential program for youths who were arrested and unable to return home. It served as an alternative to incarceration and allowed clients to continue working jobs, attending school, visiting friends and family, and receiving mental health or addiction counseling.

Adult incarceration alternatives are fairly common, but they’re less so for younger offenders. I admire how this program and others like it focus on maintaining developmental needs and balancing them with critical counseling to prevent reoffending and correcting dangerous behaviors.

Empowering You Through Work

One of the key connections one can make to stabilize their sobriety is with employment. This center recognized the importance of employment to sobriety maintenance and offered vocational training and job placement, among other related services. They’d also support you while employed to ensure you could meet the requirements of (and keep) your job during your recovery journey.

Support for Heroes

One of the most notable aspects of this center was its dedication to veterans and their families. Veterans at risk of homelessness could receive robust support ranging from treatment and case management to housing options. If you or a loved one is a veteran seeking addiction care, keep an eye out for programs like these that specifically support veteran needs.
