About Compass Counseling Services – Closed

Compass Counseling Services welcomed adults, adolescents and transitional-age youths who were ready to embrace positive behavioral change and build a brighter and healthier future. The facility was located on South National Avenue in Fort Scott, Kansas, just a short walk northeast of the Fort Scott National Historic Site and a mile north of both the Gordon Parks Museum and the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes. They’re permanently closed now.

Their location in the heart of Fort Scott, surrounded by preserved 19th-century architecture and a vibrant cultural scene, created a healing space where history and community support inspire hope and resilience. We especially appreciated their dedication to low-cost care as they accepted Medicaid, Tricare and some private health insurance plans to enhance accessibility.

Serving a Wide Range of Clients

Another thing we found quite appealing was how they accommodated clients from diverse backgrounds navigating varying behavioral issues. This included military veterans and active duty personnel who received tailored care that honors their unique experiences and needs.

People with legal troubles, like DUI charges, were welcomed with open arms and offered supportive and nonjudgmental care that helped them regain control and move forward. What really struck us was the approach Jessica, the owner, adopted in delivering targeted support.

She saw each client as a driver who knew their destination but wasn’t sure how to get there, with herself as the navigator guiding them every step of the way. This perspective enabled clients to take control of their recovery journey and achieve long-term success with just a little bit of guidance.

Therapeutic Support For Adults and Adolescents

Compass Counseling Services assisted adults in navigating issues like everyday stress, childhood traumas, anxiety and depression. Therapeutic support was delivered in a safe and nurturing environment that made the client’s journey to self-discovery, personal growth and healing easier and more rewarding.

Specialized support was provided for adolescents, which helped them navigate that wonderful yet confusing and overwhelming time in life. Jessica helped many adolescent clients in overcoming issues like anxiety, mood disorders, academic stress and peer pressure that often lead to substance misuse.

Support For Court-Involved Individuals

Jessica was an approved state assessor and trusted provider of court-ordered substance use assessments for individuals facing various legal troubles DUI and possession. She also provided court-ordered anger assessments for individuals seeking diversion from violence-related legal charges. These services were competitively priced.
