About CHR Real Life Real Hope

CHR Real Life Real Home is a non-profit behavioral healthcare provider serving children, families and adults. Their administrative office is located in Windsor, Connecticut. They’ve been around since the 1960s and offer many services for folks who are affected by mental illness, addiction or trauma.

Central Hub to Begin Recovery in Windsor

The CHR administrative office is your go-to place to contact to get an assessment and referral to any of their many programs and services. Each client gets a medical and psychological assessment that is used to create a specialized treatment plan to suit their needs.

CHR is staffed by over 800 clinicians including therapists, psychiatrists, case managers, and more. They have several outpatient, intervention and residential locations so that you can get help close to home.

Outpatient Addiction Treatment Options in Connecticut

CHR outpatient treatment includes medication-assisted treatment (MAT) which uses Methadone and Buprenorphine (Suboxone) to help clients recover from opioid use. MAT also includes counseling and recovery support services to give you a well-rounded program that leads to long-term sobriety.

Their intensive outpatient programs meet three days a week in small groups to help clients work through recovery roadblocks. This is also a great option for those who are struggling with relapses.

CHR also offers crisis intervention and medication management services.

I’m impressed by their Substance Screening, Treatment Recovery for Youth (SSTRY) program. It’s an eight–month program that focuses on helping teens replace alcohol or drug use with positive social behaviors and activities.

Residential recovery Options for Connecticut

CHR’s residential programs help clients learn the necessary skills to function independently in the community. They have a short-term residential center for women with co-occurring disorders. These seven to 14 days help them gain hope that recovery is possible.
They also run a New Life Program for Women and Children. This four to six month program helps women achieve recovery and develop effective parenting skills. They also offer MAT. This program is for women and their infants and toddlers.

Amenities

Private Rooms

In order to maintain a sense of autonomy, many private rehab facilities offer clients the ability to choose their own private rooms. The privacy and personal space ensure that the recovery process is as comfortable as possible.

Metropolitan Area

Addiction treatment in the metro area benefits clients by offering seamless connections from the city, around the state, and those seeking out-of-state treatment. Another benefit of attending a metro area drug rehab is that you’re close to major airports and ground transportation services.

Business Center

Business centers are a preferred amenity in many mental health and addiction recovery facilities and typically feature secure, high-speed internet, computer stations, printers, and related business technologies. Business centers are designed to enable professionals and students to continue to participate in work or school activities without leaving the treatment facility.

Addiction Treatment Programs

Teen & Adolescent Program

If you are looking for a young adult program in Connecticut, many options are available. Programs include inpatient, partial hospitalization programs (PHP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), outpatient, aftercare, and dual diagnosis.

Adult Program

For those who have a substance use disorder, an adult program in Connecticut offers crucial support. Designed to treat individuals 18 and older, these rehab programs help adults learn how to live their lives free from dependence on substances.

Men's Rehab

Adults who attend men’s rehab in Connecticut have the opportunity to connect with other men who are struggling with similar addiction issues. This is important for recovery, as men are often more comfortable talking about their struggles with other men.

Women's Rehab

Women often find it easier to work through their addiction issues in women’s rehab in Connecticut. Surrounded by other women who understand their struggles, they can feel free to share openly and find support.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

In Connecticut, cognitive behavioral therapy helps individuals identify impulsive thoughts and feelings of fear and self-doubt. It equips them to manage these negative thoughts and feelings without the use of substances.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT)

Rational emotive behavioral therapy in Connecticut is a commonly used substance use treatment method. This treatment can be applied in individual, family, and group therapy settings. It helps participants recognize triggers and unhealthy thinking patterns and create coping mechanisms to maintain sobriety.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is an integrative, community-based care strategy designed to address the needs of persons with severe and/or complex mental illness or behavioral disorders. ACT is typically provided by a multidisciplinary team of medical and mental health care providers, social workers, therapists, and other specialists, including addiction recovery professionals. These services are frequently provided in the home and community to clients in crisis, those who are clinically unstable, and those who are unable or unwilling to travel to a hospital or clinic for in-person treatment.

Levels of Care

Outpatient Rehab

Many individuals turn to outpatient rehab in Connecticut after they complete an inpatient program. This treatment is less intensive and usually involves attending several counseling sessions per week and attending a support group such as NA or AA. Outpatient rehab may be short or long-term, depending on the needs of the individual.

Inpatient Rehab

Inpatient drug rehab in Connecticut is the most intensive level of care for addiction treatment. Upon admission, they engage in extensive psychotherapy, receive recovery-focused life skills training, and participate in evidence-based complementary therapies, such as meditation, massage, acupuncture, and/or animal, creative arts, recreational, and experiential therapy.

Aftercare & Alumni Program

Once you’ve completed rehab treatment, you must learn how to manage stress and life challenges without relapsing. Aftercare rehab in Connecticut is designed to provide the support you need for this process. It may include financial, educational, career, social, and mental support. Many people remain in this care for a year after initial recovery.

Dual Diagnosis & Mental Health

When you have a co-occurring disorder, you have both a substance abuse disorder and a mental health disorder. Dual diagnosis in Connecticut specializes in treating both conditions simultaneously, which is crucial for successful recovery.
