About COMCARE – Adult Mental Health and Addiction Services

Known as the "Air Capital of the World," Wichita, Kansas, features COMCARE Adult Mental Health and Addiction Treatment. Since 1961, this community mental health center has provided comprehensive outpatient substance abuse and mental health care. With the help of community partners, they serve over 19,000 Sedgwick County residents. You’ll benefit from an intensive day treatment program or standard outpatient care to meet you where you are in recovery.

You can access care regardless of your ability to pay. They accept private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare and self pay. Even if you don’t have insurance, you can still get the help you need. You may be eligible for a discounted sliding scale fee based on income and family size.

Gambling Addiction Program

What strikes me most is they offer problem gambling treatment. Gambling addiction can be just as detrimental to your overall well being as drugs or alcohol. You’ll benefit from tailored care and expert backed interventions to recognize and change your behaviors. These approaches can help you gain coping skills to promote long term recovery.

Housing Assistance

Another great feature that caught my eye was their Housing First program. This track supports people battling addiction or mental health conditions as well as homelessness. You can access housing assistance while receiving recovery support services to build a steady foundation for your journey. You’ll pay up to 30 percent of your income based on your ability to pay.

Sedgwick County Offender Assessment Program

I also think their Sedgwick County Offender Assessment Program looks beneficial. If you’re experiencing a co-occurring mental health illness and have come in contact with the legal system this track can offer a second chance. Instead of incarceration, they connect you with treatment and medication. You’ll benefit from getting the help you need to sustain recovery and prevent future engagement with law enforcement.
