About Choices! Counseling Services
Choices Counseling Services offers outpatient addiction care to adults. They're based in Valparaiso, Indiana. The small town is located just an hour outside of South Bend and an hour outside of Chicago, Illinois. The clinic offers clients assessments, intensive outpatient substance abuse services, counseling, and substance use professional services for DOT violations.
After receiving your substance use history through the assessment, the staff will give you a tailored treatment plan that fits with your specific recovery goals. Your individual counselor will utilize evidence based practices such as trauma research, motivational interviewing, and the transtheoretical change model.
One service offered here that I don’t find in many other substance abuse treatment clinics is the substance abuse professional for DOT violations service. When an employee who works in areas deemed critical by the Department of Transportation is found to have used substances, they’re required to meet with a certified substance abuse professional.
They’ll conduct an assessment and evaluation of you, and the results will help you receive follow up services that are relevant to your specific situation. Choices Counseling Services will be in consistent communication with you, your employer, and the specific resources that you participated in.
I like that, along with the substance abuse services offered, they have a variety of other treatment services that may help support your recovery. These services include court ordered services, wellness services, and anger management.
One unique thing you can do while you’re in Valparaiso is visit the Gabis Arboretum at Purdue Northwest. It’s famous for having the largest collection of oak trees in the whole state.
