About Midwest Center for Youth and Families
Midwest Center for Youth and Families South Shore Academy offers immersive residential treatment for youth under 18 who struggle with mental, behavioral or emotional health challenges. Their South Shore location in Valparaiso, Indiana, serves females between the ages of 10 and 18.
Their facility is licensed and accredited as both a clinical and educational facility in one location. They are accredited by The Joint Commission and also licensed as a child care institution. They accept most insurance plans.
Residential Treatment for Girls in Indiana
The Midwest Center provides a structured program for girls in a secure, pro-social and seclusion-free environment. I like that their school curriculum runs throughout the whole year making it possible for girls to catch up or get ahead academically.
They provide all bedding, personal hygiene items and toiletries. I think it’s important to note that youth need to bring clothing that adheres to the rules such as no sleeveless, low-cut or tank top shirts. Hooded sweatshirts, pants with holes and makeup are not permitted.
They offer 24-hour nursing and are staffed with dieticians and master-level clinicians. A board-certified psychiatrist attends to the residents each week. The licensed teachers are all experienced in working with children who have special needs.
