About Cheyenne VA Medical Center
The Cheyenne VA Medical Center is open around the clock, so whenever you need help for your substance use or addictive behaviors, it’s available. Whether you’re a veteran or on active duty, VA Health can help you no matter how severe your problem is. Whether it’s an unhealthy reliance on sleeping pills, increasing bouts of binge drinking, or a life threatening chemical dependency on opioids, you’ll get treatment tailored to your needs. You don’t need to be clean from substances to be eligible for help; referrals aren’t required at the Cheyenne, Wyoming, location.
Depending on the severity of your addiction you can access inpatient or outpatient substance use treatment. You’ll receive a variety of evidence based services during treatment, which are tailored to the challenges faced by service personnel, such as post traumatic stress disorder and anger issues.
Services include individual therapy, group and family counseling, readjustment counseling, addiction education, and medication management. This combination of treatments helps you understand your addiction as a disease, recognize your triggers for substance use, and develop healthy coping strategies to support long term recovery. Effective therapeutic approaches include cognitive available therapy, motivational interviewing, and motivational enhancement therapy.
The VA’s residential facility helps veterans tackle substance use and mental health issues, as well as help with homelessness and unemployment. They do this through 24-hour therapeutic and educational programs including health maintenance, rehabilitation, and community support.
