About Blue Ocean Center for Recovery Kansas City

Blue Ocean Center for Recovery Kansas City is a comprehensive behavioral health facility specializing in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment for adults located in Kansas City. It provides both inpatient and outpatient care with detox support as well. This facility offers specialized care for first responders, veterans, people with co-occurring mental illnesses, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Kansas City is a major metropolitan destination in Kansas, which means you’ll have access to resources as well as plenty of healthy recreational outlets while receiving treatment at Blue Ocean. For green spaces, Wyandotte County Lake Park is an excellent option with plentiful walking paths and lake activities. Since the facility is located in the downtown district of Kansas City, you can also easily connect with community resources, employment support, and integration services.

MAT Care to Achieve Sobriety

I think it’s great that Blue Ocean offers a full continuum of care, while also providing flexible support to help you reach sobriety. In particular, this facility offers a detox program relying on medication assisted treatment (MAT) to help stabilize your addiction so you can integrate into either the residential or outpatient programs depending on the severity of your SUD.

Step Down Approach to Care

Along with MAT support, a key feature at Blue Ocean is the step down approach to care. While there is a residential program for more severe addiction patients, as you shift through your recovery journey, you can graduate to the outpatient portfolio which is segmented into three programs. The residences are modern and comfortable with onsite fitness and recreation spaces as well as nutritious meal plans.

I found that the partial hospitalization program (PHP) is the most structured with full day curriculum. The intensive outpatient program (IOP) offers better flexibility while still providing extended counseling sessions. Finally the standard outpatient program has the most flexibility.

Blue Ocean accepts most major insurance plans and also offers self payment options.
