About Capital Region Mental Health Center
For live in addiction treatment in Connecticut, you can go to the Connecticut Valley Hospital’s Blue Hills Campus in Hartford. Adults over 18 are treated here. You’ll detox under medical supervision. After an assessment, you’ll be counseled for addiction and related mental health challenges. Group sessions will teach you about addiction.
As they’re part of a hospital, you’ll get medical care while in recovery. They can also help those who are HIV positive. Pregnant women are treated with extra care taken to keep the baby safe. They have the facilities to treat those who are hard of hearing or deaf.
They take walk-ins at any time of day or night, seven days a week. They’ll decide what level of care you need. You’ll get a personal treatment plan. If you’re in a crisis state, they’ll help stabilize you. You’ll be given tools to help you cope.
You’ll have access to additional services and group education. You’ll work with a therapist to help you choose which sessions are right for you. There are recovery focused groups, such as 12 Steps and trauma informed care. Other groups focus on physical wellness such as leisure skills, fitness and recreation.
What I like about them is the environment they’ve created. You’ll regain your sense of self-worth. You’ll come to understand that you can decide how you want to live. Once you’re settled in your recovery, they’ll help you plan your next steps. From here you’ll move into part time treatment that allows you to get back to your family while still being cared for.
Many people describe this place as helpful. They say they’re still sober thanks to their time here. Others talk about the staff being supportive and kind. A few people haven’t had good experiences here. They mention being treated rudely or unfairly by those working in admissions.
