About Battered But Not Broken Ministry
Battered But Not Broken (BBNB) is a faith based social organization in Chester, South Carolina. They provide safe and supportive housing where women who are impacted by incarceration, substance abuse and domestic violence can heal.
The program aims to reinforce a positive lifestyle that inspires social, emotional and spiritual growth within the family and broader community. They also work to reduce recidivism by equipping ex offenders with resources and tools to reach their full potential.
Supportive Housing for Women Seeking A Second Chance
What I believe is BBNB’s most defining attribute is the unique opportunity they offer women to rebuild their lives when they walk through the door. BBNB offers a safe substance free home, educational and employment support and the structure needed to help these women rebuild their lives. It’s the difference between slipping through the cracks and thriving as contributing members of society.
Their supportive housing is spread across locations in Chester, Kershaw and Winnsboro among others. This facility at 564 Old York Road in Chester is their hub from where you can access all their services. It is situated just off Old York Road down the street from Marion's Kitchen. The SC-9 and SC-72 corridors provide direct access to the building when coming from York or Rock Hill.
Empowering Women Through Recovery and Growth
BBNB residents benefit from tailored support that fosters healing and prepares them to thrive in the real world. They pair faith based practices with proven addiction counseling and 12 step programs, mental health treatment and learning opportunities.
You’ll receive personalized mentoring and substance counseling to help you build coping skills and prevent relapses. They also offer life skill coaching and vocational training. These help you build confidence, develop practical skills and get ready for a successful transition into the workforce.
You’ll attend weekly support circles and benefit from their peer support services. They offer parenting classes to help those who are and may become mothers.
As you move forward in your recovery, they may help you with securing permanent housing and job placement via case management. They can also help with clothing assistance, notary services and other supportive services.
