About Awareness & Discovery Group

The Awareness and Discovery Group in Florence, Kentucky is an outpatient mental health and addiction treatment center. They’re certified by the State Mental Health Department and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. They accept Medicaid, Tricare, and private insurances.

This facility is best for individuals who are seeking to recover from substance abuse issues or need continued care after residential treatment. Clients are assigned a primary counselor and case manager for short term intensely focused intervention.

A Two Phase Approach to Addiction Treatment

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) is offered in two phases. Phase I is intensive initial treatment with three two-hour sessions per week for six weeks. Intensive care includes psychoeducation lectures, counseling, family group treatment sessions, random drug screenings, and an individual progress and exit planning session. Phase II is continuing care with one two-hour session per week.
You’ll start with substance abuse assessments to determine the level of service and program recommended for you. The four different programs are Substance Abuse and Addiction Basics, 52 weeks of outpatient services, IOP, and the opiate program.

Programs for People Involved in the Criminal Justice System

They have DUI assessments and services that vary based on the number of offenses and the level of care specific to client needs. Programs are offered for first offenders, those with a second DUI within a five-year period, and those who have three or more DUIs within a five-year period.

Theft awareness classes are available for those who have been charged and convicted of theft as well as those who are not court ordered but seeking help. Additional services include witnessed drug screenings, bilingual services, and custody mediation services. Other counseling services offered by this facility cover relationship problems, divorce and custody concerns and time management as well as domestic violence, grief, and anger management.

The nearest bus stop is a two-minute walk from the facility. Stringtown Park is a nearby place to reflect after a session and has a playground, outdoor fitness stations, an asphalt paved trail, and a picnic area. The Florence Y’all Water Tower is a historic site located two miles from the facility.
