About Michael C. Adams & Associates – Closed

Most people with ongoing behavioral challenges who turned to the Counseling Services of Michael Adams and Associates wanted a fresh and informed perspective on healing and growth. At this local counseling center in Florence, Kentucky, you were empowered to take control of your recovery and pursue lasting transformation across your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. They were located on Houston Road in Florence, a short walk west of the Florence Y’all Water Tower and just over a mile northwest of Florence Nature Park. Unfortunately, the counseling center has now closed after 13 years in business.

Varied Outpatient Counseling for All Ages

They proudly supported adults, adolescents and children across the greater Boone County and beyond. I was deeply impressed by the broad range of support they could provide from helping clients navigate psychiatric issues like depression and substance misuse to providing parental coaching, workplace guidance and help with family conflict resolution. They could help you work through past traumatic experiences, including physical and sexual abuse, using proven methods like EMDR to promote emotional healing and restore a sense of inner balance.

They delivered tailored support to adolescents and their families, helping them navigate challenges ranging from school struggles, drug use and rule breaking to anxiety, anger and bullying. Emphasis on building prosocial skills that improve self esteem and self confidence would help reduce the impact of peer pressure. They even offered marriage and relationship counseling for couples using the revolutionary Gotham Method to help rebuild trust, improve communication and rekindle relationships. Support was provided for children and teens whose parents were going through a divorce to emotionally prepare them for the changes ahead.

Integrating Christian Faith When Chosen

I especially appreciate how they would seamlessly integrate biblical or Christian principles into the therapeutic process if this benefited you and you requested it. Such faith based support could help you find meaning in your struggles and strength in your healing journey by fostering a deeper connection to a higher power.

Another thing I cherished about their work was their total commitment to confidentiality. This makes you feel safe, respected and free to share openly without fear of judgment or exposure. The best part was that they supported telehealth and offered teletherapy, making it easier to get the help you need from the comfort and privacy of your own home. I also love how this eliminated transportation barriers to accessing care.

Expert Treatment for Substance Dependent Individuals

Individuals and families navigating primary substance use issues were provided with tailored support in an environment that inspires healing and personal growth. Michael Adams himself held the credential of Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), the highest level of certification for substance use care in Kentucky. Few other clinicians here hold similar or related credentials with extensive experience in recovery.

So, seeking care here put you in the hands of experts with great knowledge about the dynamics of substance dependence from prevention to causes and treatment options. Services spanned assessment and treatment planning alongside individual therapy and family education. Referrals to detox or long-term residential care were provided when clinically appropriate for your healing. They even provided Casey’s Law evaluations, which can lead to court ordered substance use treatment for a loved one who is unable to see their need for help.
