About Alternative Counseling Kent King County

Alternative Counseling has two locations in Kent, Washington. Services are provided for adults dealing with an alcohol or drug addiction. They accept most insurances and provide other payment options, such as payment plans and a sliding fee scale.

To determine if you’ve a drug or alcohol dependency, a counselor will conduct a comprehensive assessment. The evaluation can take up to 1.5 hours. If a substance dependency is determined, the counselor will create the best course of treatment for you.

The intensive outpatient program provides evidence based therapy in the form of individual and group counseling. You will also be able to attend community based sober support groups. You will need to attend nine hours of counseling per week for a course of two months. You will be able to address the behavior that led you into addiction, learn coping strategies, prevent lapse and learn triggers to effectively deal with them. I like that the program can work around your schedule.

The outpatient program also offers flexible scheduling. You’ll attend individual and group counseling either weekly or biweekly. The sessions can last anywhere from one to three hours. If needed, you may receive a referral to seek medical or psychological care. You’ll also develop your relapse prevention plan.

The deferred prosecution program requires a judge. The judge must be convinced that your case stemmed from a disorder associated with drugs or alcohol. You must also confess, under other, that you could reoffend with your receiving treatment. This program requires a time commitment of three years.
