About Worcester County Health Department

Worcester County Health Department's Snow Hill Main Office is in Snow Hill, Maryland. The department is divided into six programs, including Behavioral Health and Ambulatory Care programs, which are accredited by The Joint Commission. The behavioral health program includes mental health and substance abuse services that are offered in multiple sites throughout the county.

They also work with community based services to ensure that your program provides you with the necessary treatment to promote and support sobriety and sustainable recovery. One way is through exercise. The Worcester County Recreation Center is right next door, as are basketball and tennis courts.

Programs that are supported by the County Health Department are at Maryland Children's Health Program, Longshore Health Insurance Assistance Program, and Coordination of Community Services. The community based treatments that may be included in your program include a medication assisted treatment program that incorporates FDA approved and prescribed medications to address withdrawal symptoms alongside counseling. Medication assisted treatment is to address withdrawal symptoms and cravings that can affect treatment while relieving brain pathology involved with addiction.

Medications might include buprenorphine, naltrexone, disulfaram, and methadone. The Re-Entery and Recovery Program assists you just before and after being released from Worcester County Detention Center. Case management will link you with transportation, housing recovery groups, insurance coverage, and obtaining Narcan to prevent overdose.

Targeted case management helps when you are homeless or at risk of homelessness referring you to community resources that can help provide access to shelter, food, and assistance getting documentation. Case managers also help link you with federal, state, and/or local resources. Emergency department care coordination helps facilitate behavioral care services in partnership with the local hospital in Berlin, Maryland.

This includes assistance getting Narcan training and identifying people in the community who can assist with treatments and appointments.
