Woodlands Grove Recovery Campus is a licensed and accredited residential addiction treatment center located in Van Wert, Ohio in the northwestern part of the state. The campus sits on 44 acres of wooded countryside, roughly 30 miles west of Lima and about two hours from Columbus.
The facility is accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed by Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services (OMHAS). It provides care for adults with substance use disorders, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions.
A Countryside Retreat with Clinical Care
Woodlands Grove offers a full continuum of treatment. I noticed that care begins with medically monitored detox, where staff are available around the clock to manage withdrawal symptoms.
Following detox, clients move into residential treatment, living in one of five gender-specific cottages on campus. Residential programming combines individual and group therapy with life skills training and structured daily activities.
The facility also offers medication assisted treatment (MAT) through a dedicated MAT coordinator and I appreciate that it builds aftercare planning into the treatment process so clients leave with a plan for ongoing support.
Program lengths range from a standard 90 day track up to six months, one year, or two years for clients with more complex needs, co occurring disorders or a history of relapse.
Specialists and Evidence Based Treatments
Therapy at Woodlands Grove draws on evidence based methods including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing.
These are delivered by a clinical team that includes master's level therapists, a psychiatrist and medical director, nurse practitioners, licensed practical nurses, and behavioral health technicians.
Because Woodlands Grove treats substance use and mental health conditions together, clients with a dual diagnosis receive coordinated care that addresses both at once, rather than being referred elsewhere for one or the other.
Therapeutic Recreation and Outdoor Activities
Alongside clinical treatment, the campus incorporates experiential and holistic programming, including animal assisted therapy, horticultural therapy and outdoor group sessions.
