About West Virginia Sober Living, Inc.

In Morgantown, West Virginia, you’ll find multiple houses run by West Virginia Sober Living. They have two for men and one for women in the city. Women with children can access the organization’s sober living home in Charleston, West Virginia.

Health insurance doesn’t cover sober living arrangements, but if you attend outpatient addiction treatment, you may be able to use insurance for that.

Recovery Houses for Men and Women in Morgantown

The Recovery Housing program aims to give residents a safe and supportive environment for recovery. They help residents build healthy relationships and encourage them to grow spiritually as well as learn life skills in personal finance and accountability.

Each house has a house manager who is a certified recovery coach. Residences are monitored with closed circuit cameras covering common areas and the perimeter. They also have group outings to help residents experience new things and have fun together.

Trained Peer Support to Connect Residents to Resources

I was impressed with the peer support program at West Virginia Sober Living. The peers have lived experience with addiction recovery and also get 50 hours of training on evidence based interventions that allow them to help those in recovery.

Peers can connect residents with a wide range of resources, such as healthcare enrollment, housing support and medical specialists to treat HIV and Hep C. They also connect clients to behavioral healthcare such as outpatient treatment and harm reduction as well as legal help and support groups like 12 step programs.

Another thing I thought was neat was the peers participating in Quick Response Teams, which collaborate with EMTs, police and others to support overdose response and offer families supportive care and connections to community resources.
