About West Georgia Counseling and Assessment Services

The West Georgia Counseling & Assessment Services provides services to families through the Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) in suburban Lagrange, Georgia. Youths are also provided services through the Troup County Juvenile Court and the Multi Agency Alliance for Children.

Most private insurance is accepted including Medicaid. If you’re uninsured, you will be able to self pay for services with their reduced rates.

I like that their services are family focused and community based. Although they are a mental health agency, they also provide a variety of services to individuals with substance abuse disorders, mental health issues and family conflicts.

The services you or your child receives includes treatment modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), the matrix model, and brain change. For the staff to assess your individual therapeutic needs, you’ll undergo a diagnostic assessment. You’ll be able to address your needs, problems, expectations, strengths and preferences. With this information, the staff will be able to determine your level of care and treatment plan.

Their outpatient treatment program will provide you with individual, group and family counseling. Education on wellness will also be provided. You or your loved one will need to meet certain criterias for entry, transition and discharge.

In order to meet their entry criteria, you must have a child in foster care or have an open case with DFCS. You must also be referred by the Troup County’s Family Treatment Court or the Troup County Juvenile Court. Within the first 30 days of services, or when you no longer need their services, transition planning will occur. Your input will be in order so that the proper treatment planning occurs.

In order to be discharged, you will also need to meet those criterias. Some of those criterias are you no longer meet the admission criteria, you’ve met your treatment plan goals, a request has been placed for discharge of the program, services you require are not available with their level of care or an adequate plan for your continuing care has been established.

If being outdoors and exercising and unwinding can help with your recovery. There are skateparks and dog parks in the local area. Playgrounds are also close by for your family to enjoy.
