About Wells House Inc

Wells House Hagerstown provides substance use disorder treatment in Hagerstown, Maryland, for men and women over the age of 18. The organization provides behavioral health services that are evidence based along with a continuum of care. When it comes to insurance, they accept Aetna and Maryland Medicaid. If you don’t have insurance you can self pay for your treatment.

If you are struggling with an opioid use disorder, they are able to refer you to their telemedicine services for medication assisted treatment (MAT). This specific service is offered in collaboration with the University of Maryland Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry. Depending on your specific situation, you will be given one of the following FDA approved medications: methadone, buprenorphine or Vivitrol.

Their residential program is a low intensity program. When you are not in your scheduled treatment sessions, you will be able to come and go as you please. You are required to sign in everyday at 5pm. Although you do have freedom, you need to abide by their 10pm curfew. I like that they will encourage you to seek and maintain employment, attend 12 step meetings and attend medical and mental health appointments. Depending on your specific needs, the length of the program can vary from four to six months.

To continue your treatment, they also offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP). I like that they offer morning, afternoon and evening hours to allow schedule flexibility. You’ll attend your session four days per week. Each session is three hours in length. Depending on your treatment plan and meeting your goals, the length of this program can be from 60 to 120 days. After this you will be able to step down in treatment services to their outpatient program (OP).

With both programs, you will learn how to develop coping skills that are healthy. You will also learn to identify your core beliefs and defense mechanisms. Relapse prevention education will be provided. They will help you develop motivation, social skills and cognitive skills so that you may develop your sober support system.
