If you're familiar with suburban Moscow, Idaho, you may already know about Weeks and Vietri Counseling and Community Services. They have substance use and mental health treatment services for adults and minors. This would be considered an outpatient clinic.

One thing I like about Weeks and Vietri is that they also offer domestic violence counseling. It’s a common overlapping problem with substance use disorder, and it's great that anyone seeking treatment for both issues can get it in one place.

Putting You in Touch with Recovery Groups

The Weeks and Vietri staff are proactive about getting you in touch with services that can further support your recovery. One way they do this is by incorporating recovery groups into their outpatient substance use disorder treatment plans.

I think it's a great service because it does the work of connecting you to a group. It's not that finding recovery groups is hard necessarily, but anything that takes work off your plate during treatment allows you to focus more of your attention and effort on recovery. Of course, you can still seek help from additional groups in the community if you want to broaden your support.

Intervention Through Education

If the consequences of drug and alcohol use have landed you in the legal system, you may get referred to an alcohol and drug information school (ADIS) program like the one at this facility.

ADIS classes are a safe, judgement free zone to learn about the nature and harms of addictive behaviors. On their own, they can serve as a deterrent, but when paired with counseling they can give you greater insight into the harm drugs and alcohol use causes and ways you can turn away from future substance use. These programs are typically done by court order, though some allow voluntary attendance as well.

Private Clinical Drug Testing

I want to highlight the inclusion of in house drug testing in their outpatient program. Drug testing serves a few purposes. First, it ensures you're staying clean and following the rules of treatment. It also keeps you accountable for the changes you're looking to make in treatment. Finally, it provides proof of your clean living to anyone who needs it, like the courts or an employer, for example.

Weeks and Vietri Counseling and Community Services accepts some private insurance plans. You can also use Medicare and Medicaid here. Their walk-in hours are limited, so it might be worth setting an appointment ahead of time.
