About Wayside Womens Treatment Center
Wayside Recovery Center has been helping women and moms combat addiction for more than 70 years. They have residential and outpatient options, including a residence for mothers and children and medication assisted treatment. They accept all major insurance plans and can help get you coverage if you need it.
The women’s residential program is designed to meet the needs of women recovering from addiction. I appreciate that they focus on giving women culturally specific support services. The average length of stay is three months, but each client will have a customized plan. They also offer medical and mental health services on site.
The team at Wayside includes addiction counselors, doctors, case managers and psychiatrists, just to name a few. You also get access to peer recovery specialists, parenting groups and a bunch of different wellness services. While you won’t come here for the luxury accommodations, the facility is adequate with basic shared rooms and common areas.
Wayside is also unusual in that they offer a separate facility for women who need to bring their children with them while they get care. They can house 19 women and 16 children. Mothers and children from birth to age 11 will share a bedroom. While moms are in treatment, their kids go to school or at the onsite daycare facility. Moms will improve their parenting skills while they also get treatment for addiction. Family counseling sessions for older children also take place. Most families stay in treatment for 3 months.
Pregnant women are able to attend this program and even deliver their babies while in residence. Wayward staff are trained and certified doulas to support you through pregnancy and delivery.
Their virtual evening intensive outpatient is for women who can’t attend residential care for whatever reason. You’ll get 8-14 hours of treatment weekly, which includes group, individual, family and/or couples sessions. You’ll meet online through Zoom and also get a case manager to support you. I like that they offer in-home family services including parenting help.
They also have an intensive track that includes lodging. You’ll get a safe and sober place to live, away from distractions with other women who are also in recovery. You’ll spend 3 half days in programming and be able to work, study or volunteer in the other hours. They provide transportation to and from the housing to the program center.
