About Walden House Care Facility
Walden House is a mental health and addiction recovery program in San Francisco, California, with co-occurring disorder care available. They primarily offer specialized detox and residential programs but have outpatient options as well. In addition to serving men and women, they have unique programs for LGBTQ individuals and culturally sensitive treatment tracks for minorities.
Walden House is also known for its programs supporting homeless individuals and those who are HIV/AIDS positive. Finally, they have services for those currently involved in the legal system, including those incarcerated and those on probation or parole. Part of their mission is to serve those who are uninsured or who are struggling financially.
Walden House seeks to serve a diverse population. Yet rather than try to make a single program that meets everyone's needs, they've built multiple residential programs targeting different clients. This includes gender specific programs and culturally informed programs, to name some. Ultimately, the goal of such programs is to recognize the factors that make you and influence both addiction and recovery. Walden House uses a trauma informed care approach to dig deep and address the underlying cause of addiction.
I want to take a moment to look at their Women's HOPE residential program. This gender specific treatment track includes additional parenting and family support. Features include parenting education and family reunification. It's open to pregnant women as well as those with young children, in addition to those with Child Protective Services cases. The extra support can alleviate some of the stress of these life situations while you're working toward recovery.
