About Hillsborough County Voa Living Center Iii, Inc.

Volunteers of America Florida’s Hillsborough Permanent Supportive Housing Program combines stable housing with treatment for mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorder. It's also open to individuals who are experiencing homelessness. The house is located in Tampa, Florida, north of McKay Bay and Hillsborough Bay.

I noted that the program accepts adults 18 and over as well as families. During your stay, you'll participate in therapeutic activities while interacting with the greater community through employment or volunteer opportunities. Individuals are responsible for paying rent each month.

Get a Hand with Stability

No matter the nature of your addiction, you're most likely experiencing some form of instability in your life. That's why treatment goals go beyond just addressing symptoms to include building a stable foundation for your life. This is done through life skills development focused on independent living and various social skills.

You'll also work with a case manager during your stay, which I believe is a huge advantage to connecting with one after treatment. They'll help you manage your daily responsibilities, like making and keeping appointments. In a way, they're like advocates who ensure you get the most out of what's available to you.

Individual Life Planning

The work that you do in treatment sets you up for the return to everyday life. However, aftercare is where you and the staff will iron out the details of your immediate plan following treatment. Will you continue to another treatment program, or join local support groups? Aftercare lets you focus on what you think will help you the most.

Their Individual Life Planning program combines elements of aftercare with long term goals you set for yourself. You identify what your goals are and determine what you need to do to achieve them. It falls in line with the idea of empowerment that runs through addiction treatment. Building road maps like these is also a great component of relapse prevention.

Teen & Adolescent Program

Young adults often develop addiction for different reasons than older individuals. That’s why a young adult program in Florida focuses on the unique pressures, needs, and challenges faced by young adults.

Adult Program

Treatment at an adult program in Florida addresses the needs of each individual as they work toward recovery. Programs are designed for men and women ages 18 and up, and include a variety of treatment protocols to match the severity of the addiction, type of substance, and personal situation.

Men's Rehab

Gender-specific addiction treatment gives men who are struggling with substance use disorders a connection point to other men with similar struggles. This common ground can make a huge impact on men’s rehab in Florida.

Women's Rehab

Often, women who have a substance use disorder also have a co-occurring disorder. Women’s rehab in Florida often addresses both the addiction and mental health disorder with dual diagnosis treatment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida helps people in treatment to revisit painful thoughts and memories and learn new ways to cope with them. These newly-learned techniques replace substance use and help the individual maintain sobriety.

Senior Drug & Alcohol Rehab

If you're over the age of 65, elderly rehab in Florida gives you the opportunity to be in a treatment program with your peers. This tends to be helpful for older adults because they can receive mutual support and acceptance from their peers. These programs are specifically designed for seniors.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT)

Therapists use rational emotive behavioral therapy in Florida to help individuals evaluate their irrational beliefs surrounding their substance use behaviors. This therapy helps participants change patterns of thinking and behavior to overcome addiction.
