About Volunteers of America Chesapeake, Inc.

As the birthplace of the national anthem, Baltimore, Maryland is rich in history and culture. It’s also home to the Volunteers of America Chesapeake Residential ReEntry Center. As the only federal re-entry facility in Maryland, they’ve provided community-based and structured support for adult men and women since 1976. You must receive a Federal Bureau of Prisons and U.S. Pretrial Services referral to participate in services.

This CARF-accredited residential program provides a stable environment to focus on addiction and co-occurring disorder recovery and turn your life around. While living on campus, you’ll build self-reliance and hope through unwavering support and treatment best practices.

Their programs provide personalized services and temporary housing for more than 600 adults annually to reduce recidivism and promote recovery. You’ll participate in addiction education, employment and education assistance, cognitive behavioral interventions and more.

What stands out most to me is their comprehensive care management strategy. Your case manager can coordinate services based on your unique situation and needs. They connect you with essential resources to fuel your recovery journey. You can access local service referrals for housing, medical care, substance abuse treatment, sex offender treatment and mental health services. They’re there to understand your challenges and link you to the appropriate services for help.

Another amazing feature is their employment and education assistance. Getting back on your feet after addiction and incarceration can come with many hurdles. They offer educational and vocational training to help you gain vital skills to start a career. You’ll also benefit from employment readiness and job search assistance to aid in financial self-sufficiency. That way you can leave treatment with a clear path to setting yourself up for success in life and recovery.
