Volunteer Behavioral Health Hiwassee Mental Health Center Athens is a CARF accredited drug and alcohol treatment center located in Athens, Tennessee. They provide services to adolescent and adult individuals who are struggling with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders. Their levels of care include intensive and traditional outpatient treatment programs along with transitional housing. Services that are available include comprehensive assessments, individual counseling, family therapy, case management, employment support and individual placement.
Their M.A.S.H. program is geared towards assisting with placement for veterans and families who are low-income or are at risk or are currently experiencing homelessness. This is funded by the VA and helps you obtain stable housing for you and your family. Supportive services include care coordination, therapy, recovery support and medical care.
The PATH program helps individuals who haven’t received treatment for at least six months who are struggling with addiction and/or mental health conditions. This program provides housing placement, case management, mental health and substance abuse treatment.
Their individual placement and support for employment is a rapid search program to assist you with financial income and stability. They can also connect you with vocational rehabilitation so you can receive training and qualify for employment. This program can help you regain self confidence, build resilience and gain independence.
Their outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment programs can create more flexibility with maintaining your weekly schedule. You can continue employment, education, or taking care of family while focusing on your healing.
Individual counseling will take place weekly and you will develop healthier coping skills to help you overcome uncomfortable or challenging situations that can arise. Family therapy can help you get reconnected with your loved ones, learn to create and respect healthy boundaries and learn to communicate more effectively with one another.
An assessment and evaluation will be completed during the intake process. This will connect you to the level of care you can benefit the most from and present you with options that work for you.
