About Visalia Rescue Mission
Visalia Rescue Mission is a faith-based nonprofit organization in Visalia, California. With a foundation in Christian principles and holistic healing, they provide a long-term residential program for adults. They welcome people battling addiction and homelessness, offering services and resources to reach recovery.
As the largest organization of their kind in Kings and Tulare County, they provide unwavering support and encouragement to help you rebuild your life and sustain sobriety. Their Life Change Recovery Program aims to help you reach overall wellness while connecting with peers on similar paths. You’ll benefit from an extended program that covers your basic needs while promoting self-sufficiency and growth.
What stands out most to me is their program structure. They separate their year-long program into four quarters. In quarter one you focus on personal healing and wellness. During this phase, you’ll work on basic life skills, 12 step programming and parenting skills. They also introduce basic work responsibilities like landscaping and prepping meals.
Then, you move on to quarter two which helps you get to the root causes of addiction and other challenges through counseling and spiritual growth. In quarters three and four, you start working on building other essential life aspects like employment, relationship boundaries, finances and more. I think this is an incredible approach because it allows you to grow in recovery one step at a time.
Another wonderful feature is their focus on holistic healing. They help you feed your soul with the Gospel while developing essential skills to better yourself. One of my favorite elements is their workforce development services.
Stepping back into a career after treatment can be challenging. You’ll benefit from skills assessments, job search training, resume assistance, mock interviews and computer classes. These services can prepare you to smoothly transition to daily life after treatment.
