About Veterans Outreach Center
Richards House is a Veterans Outreach Center residential program for adult men in Rochester, New York. The organization focuses on helping homeless veterans achieve stability and independence and provides treatment to help them overcome challenges including mental health, addiction and co occurring disorders.
The Veterans Outreach Center is able to offer all services free of charge because of the generosity of their donors and volunteers.
Residential Services for Military Veteran Men in Rochester
The Veteran Outreach Center focuses on providing housing services and life skills training, but they recognize that mental health concerns and substance use can play a large role in homelessness. That’s why they provide mental health and substance use resources to veterans at Richards House.
I think it’s helpful that they also provide case management and peer group sessions for those participating in Veterans Court. This Court program provides diversion services for veterans with non violent offenses who also have a substance use and/or mental health disorder.
Support Services for Veterans and Their Families
In addition to the housing services, the Veterans Outreach Center provides a variety of support options that I believe can be vital for veterans in recovery and their families.
They have a quartermaster program that provides food, clothing and household items that is located on South Avenue in Rochester. They can connect you to community organizations and they also provide veteran events to help you connect to those who understand your experiences.
