About VCU Health OB MOTIVATE Clinic

Renowned for its abundance of art, history and culture, Richmond, Virginia, is also home to VCU Health OB MOTIVATE Clinic. Established in 2019, this unique women’s addiction recovery program is the only one of its kind in central Virginia. Women, pregnant women and parenting mothers can access an integrated approach to reach their recovery goals. Their program accepts major insurance companies and Medicaid. You may also be eligible for financial assistance and discounted fees.

With their outpatient care, you can live at home and tend to other responsibilities like work, family and school. They provide a tailored treatment plan with your recovery goals at the forefront. You can attend their program for OB-GYN care, addiction treatment or both. You can access counseling, support groups, wellness exams, specialized recovery support for pregnant and postpartum women and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

What stands out most to me is their unique approach. They serve women in all stages of life, even during and after pregnancy. You can also access any service to meet your needs all at one location. They make treatment easily accessible, offering some services virtually, through video or telehealth. I think it’s amazing that they provide gender-specific and trauma-informed care to help you understand and address the underlying causes of addiction.

Another wonderful feature I noticed was their treatment referrals. You’ll benefit from connections to ongoing care for Hepatitis C treatment, domestic violence assistance, social services and primary care. They strive to help you improve your overall wellness to promote long term recovery.

Lastly, I think their multidisciplinary team is worth noting. You’ll receive integrated care from experts in addiction medicine, behavioral health, psychiatry, pediatrics, social work and OB-GYN specialists. I love how they provide an empathetic team with multiple perspectives to help you prosper in several life aspects.
