The Seattle Addiction Treatment Center is operated by the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and located on the Seattle VA Medical Center campus on Beacon Hill.

The center serves Veterans of all genders facing alcohol, opioid, stimulant, cannabis, tobacco and behavioral-addiction concerns, along with commonly co-occurring mental health and social-support needs.

I noticed that the center offers a full continuum of care from inpatient and outpatient detox to a structured 3 to 4-week Intensive Outpatient Program with cohort groups three days per week, individual care coordination and continuing-care engagement.

Treatment draws on proven approaches like CBT, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based relapse prevention and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Medication options include methadone, buprenorphine, Sublocade and Vivitrol, alongside overdose-prevention education and naloxone distribution.

I also found that specialized programming addresses substance use alongside PTSD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and serious mental illness using treatments like Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure.

The team also connects Veterans to case management and referrals for housing, finances, chronic pain and tobacco cessation, plus gender-sensitive care for women Veterans.
