About Bangor VA Clinic

Bangor VA Clinic in Bangor, Maine, is a primary care facility that also provides transitional housing for homeless individuals, as well as substance abuse and addiction treatment. Care is available to adult veterans aged 18 and older, including those with dual diagnosis or concurrent mental health issues, regardless of gender, race or background. Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE and other private insurance plans are accepted.

This location provides a full range of addiction treatment for substance abuse. Treatment is tailored to meet clients’ unique and individual needs and is available either in person or through virtual telehealth appointments for those unable to make regular one to one sessions.

Whether clients are struggling with acute withdrawal management and uncomfortable symptoms or present less intensive addiction symptoms — there’s something for all levels of care here. Intensive outpatient services are available for those with less serious substance abuse issues or for anyone who would benefit from the flexibility that outpatient treatment provides. Clients can continue with their regular work or study routine while engaging with this program. Treatment may include individual and group therapy, medication assisted treatment (MAT) and medication management services.

Many individuals may arrive at this center needing to get sober before beginning their treatment. In this case, detox and inpatient withdrawal management services are provided to help stabilize individuals and wean them off addictive substances in a safe and supportive environment. For those in need of more intensive care, referrals can be made to local VA facilities offering residential treatments.
