UCS Healthcare is an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment center in Des Moines, Iowa. They provide customized care for people who are addicted to alcohol or drugs, and they can help if you have co-occurring mental health conditions, too. They accept most insurance providers and Medicaid, but if you aren’t insured they have sliding scale fees, too.

The primary service at this treatment center is their medication assisted treatment (MAT). This is where they give you medications for alcohol addiction or opioid addiction that reduce your dependency on the substance by lowering your cravings and withdrawal symptoms. They offer these medications for pregnant clients, too.

Along with MAT you’ll have addiction counseling as a core part of your program. There’s group therapy as well as individual therapy to help you address the issues that impact your addiction and work through the challenges that come up in recovery. They have group sessions for a variety of topics and specialties like sessions about anger, coping skills, relationships and relapse prevention. There are Spanish speaking group sessions as well.

I think it’s impressive that this clinic offers walk in SUD assessments and client intake. When you’re ready to take this step in your recovery journey you can just walk into the clinic during their open hours and they’ll get you started. They have a variety of other services here, too, like psychiatric care as well as gender affirming care and LGBTQIA+ care.
