About Tubman: Tubman Chrysalis Center

Tubman Chrysalis Center is a community organization offering a variety of services such as mental health support, addiction treatment, and counseling in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. They also have community education, legal services and other wraparound services. To address addiction, you’ll be able to access a relapse prevention support group and medication assisted treatment (MAT) here.

Tubman provides chemical assessments for people who need it to get public funding for addiction treatment. The relapse support group is for women in recovery from substance use. This is a 12-week group facilitated by professionals that provides ongoing recovery support.

The group uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). The clinical support does not include 12-step meetings but you’ll be encouraged to attend those during your own time. I like that they use a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to addiction care. Medication management is provided by an on-site psychiatrist.

If you’re focused on mental health then Tubman offers several groups that focus on healthy relationships and relationship violence. One thing I appreciate about this organization is that they also offer a free weekly support group called Melissa’s Connections. This is not considered a psychotherapy group but a place to land and receive some extra support. Some groups are offered virtually while others are in person.

A previous client said she had received help from Tubman Chrysalis Center for several different issues in her life and every time they were caring and kind. Another person said she loves the communication and connection she gets from her therapist.

Addiction Treatment Programs

Adult Program

When an individual struggles with drug and alcohol use, an adult program in Minnesota can provide treatment and mental health support. Designed for men and women over the age of 18, these programs help individuals obtain and maintain sobriety.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Minnesota is based on rapid, action-focused treatment. This works well for 60 to 90-day rehab programs by providing participants with immediate and effective coping techniques.

Men's Rehab

Individuals who attend men’s rehab in Minnesota can expect to spend much of their days in therapy sessions. Therapy is focused on men only, and teaches men how to control urges and cravings and live a healthy, sober lifestyle.

Senior Drug & Alcohol Rehab

Designed to cater to the older adult's individual needs, elderly rehab in Minnesota increases recovery success. Seniors may participate in individual therapy, group therapy, or holistic therapies, focusing on the specific challenges they are facing related to their stage of life and type of addiction.

Women's Rehab

During women’s rehab in Minnesota, women participate in evidence-based therapies to treat their substance use disorders. Therapy methods include individual, group, family, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical behavior therapy.

Teen & Adolescent Program

Recovery is not the same for young adults as it is for older individuals. A young adult program in Minnesota treats the patient as a whole, addressing unique life-stage challenges, dual diagnosis issues, and substance abuse.

Levels of Care

Outpatient Rehab

Outpatient rehab in Minnesota provides a less restrictive environment than inpatient. You’ll live at home while attending just a few hours of counseling sessions per week and receive ongoing support through a program such as AA or NA. This will continue for as long as you need this level of accountability.

Dual Diagnosis & Mental Health

Left untreated, mental disorders complicate substance abuse disorders and make addiction treatment ineffective. Dual diagnosis treatment in Minnesota addresses both, making it ideal for those who have co-occurring disorders.
