About Thurston County DUI – Drug Court Program

The Thurston County Drug Court Program is open to nonviolent drug and alcohol offenders. It's based out of Olympia, Washington. It’s pretty close to Capitol Lake and Interpretive Park. It's a multidisciplinary program offered as an alternative to sentencing. It’s based on abstinence.

The core of this program is accountability. While undergoing treatment you'll learn the value of taking responsibility for making changes in your life.

Breaking the Cycle of Addiction in Thurston County

One of the biggest benefits of this program is that it keeps people out of jail. As a form of alternative sentencing, participants are required to follow all guidelines and complete all goals set out by the court to avoid sentencing.

Sadly, not everyone who is in jail or prison has access to substance use recovery resources. For many, the result is continued drug or alcohol use and reoffending when they're released. I like that alternative programs like these are designed to stop this cycle and help individuals make real change. It may not be easy, but the impact is inarguably more positive than the alternative.

Helping You Help Your Community

The Thurston County Drug Court Program lists benefits to both participants and their communities. It's not so surprising to see that helping individuals have an overall positive effect on the surrounding community.

When you're stable and sober, you're in a better position to take care of yourself and others. From a broad perspective, it can make the community an overall safer place by reducing dangerous behaviors. It also reduces the costs of rehabilitation and punishment associated with incarceration.

Helping You Reach Your Milestones

For me, the defining feature of this program is its requirements to get and hold a job. It may seem like a small thing, but it demonstrates responsibility. It also adds structure and stability to your day. It also prepares you for when you transition out of treatment: you'll already have a job in place!

The program also requires you to complete your education via a high school diploma or G.E.D. Not only will you get treatment through this program, but you'll have the chance to do some serious skill building. It can help you improve in more ways than one!
