About Way Back Inn and Grateful House
Way Back Inn works with adults who are recovering from alcohol, drugs, or gambling use disorders. They've sites in Oak Park, Melrose Park, and Maywood in Illinois. The home on Oak Street in Maywood is by the Des Moines River, with Maywood Park across the street.
In Maywood, they offer extended residential care (ERC) for gambling, substance use and co-occurring disorders for up to 23 men. Unlike so many residential rehab centers that have 28-day programs, I like that they offer stays for 3-12 months. They have two ERC homes in Maywood. Both homes are in residential neighborhoods and look exactly like regular residences from the outside. Inside, they have hardwood floors, natural accents, and neutral lighting so it’ll seem like you’re back home.
Since individuals struggling with addiction have often lost structure in their lives, I appreciate that Way Back Inn helps clients build productive living habits and daily functions. During your stay, you’ll get communal living housing, family-style meals, and clinical services. Residents get 5-9 hours of clinical services each week which includes individual and group sessions with certified counselors. Each day there’s a community meeting and chores to support daily life functions. Clients also have access to 12 Step support and other peer support groups.
What strikes me most is that this program looks at helping all men improve their overall health and relationships. Staff help residents with employment, budgeting and time management as well. They offer certified peer recovery support specialists whom I think could be extremely beneficial in a person’s recovery journey.
When residents are ready to step down from this level of care, Way Bank Inn offers recovery homes to help them transition back to society. Graduates also get access to an alumni association and aftercare to prevent relapse.
