About UMADAOP of Cincinnati
UMADAOP of Cincinnati (Urban Minority Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Outreach Programs) supports youth, adults and families in African American and other marginalized communities. UMADAOP offers substance use and mental health prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery programs. They are located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Medication Assisted treatment (MAT) in Hamilton County
UMADAOP offers MAT to treat substance use disorders. Medications combined with counseling and behavioral therapies have been a proven strategy to combat opioid addiction.
In many cases, counseling is not enough. I like that MAT allows clients to target their addiction from multiple angles so that they can get the best possible outcome.
I like that they also offer a peer recovery supporter. This is somebody who has personal experience with addiction and can be a mentor to you during your recovery.
Two Levels of Outpatient Care in Cincinnati
At UMADAOP clients can enroll in either the intensive outpatient program (IOP) or the outpatient program. Both of these programs address addiction or mental health challenges like depression while folks can continue with their normal daily activities.
Clients attend group sessions that are facilitated by a trained counselor. In these sessions, you will cover topics like relapse prevention, anger management and healthy coping strategies. Often these group sessions run in the evening to allow folks to attend to their other responsibilities during the day. You might also have one-on-one counseling sessions.
Specialty Track for Women in Ohio
I think one of their most impressive services is their women's treatment group. This is a 10-week program that is tailored specifically to the needs of women. The recovery process is not the same for men and women, so this gender-specific program is laser focused for women's substance use recovery. They use the reputable Matrix program that has been created just for women.
