The Grove Recovery Center offers substance use recovery with kindness, compassion and hope. One of their locations is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At this location, they offer general outpatient (OP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) and transitional living. I like that the founder and many of the staff have lived experience with addiction.

The Grove uses the 12-step recovery model as a foundation to help clients reach long-term recovery. Their outpatient program empowers clients to get the skills they need while they improve their work and family lives. I like that their IOP program is self-paced so no one is rushing you through your progress.

They use the Recovery Dynamics curriculum and also introduce you to the 12 steps of recovery. You'll have weekly assignments as you progress toward full recovery. Educators will provide lectures to help you learn how to get the solutions to addiction. Many clients complete this program in about 12 weeks but it could be different for you.

You'll attend a group session three times a week for three hours each time. These group meetings help you work through the struggles of early recovery with your counselor and peers. You'll also be introduced to different topics that will help you gain freedom from addiction. These include life skills and coping techniques as well as addiction as a disease and so on.

The Grove also offers sober living housing. This gives you accountability and peer support along with the freedom to live safely in the real world. They have various residences in the Baton Rouge area that are nearby to the campus. Residences are gender-specific and also separated by phase. You’ll learn life skills like getting and keeping a job, cooking, self-care, budgeting and how to create healthy relationships.

You'll get support from staff, your peers and your sponsor. Group meetings will help you have meaningful discussions and grow your recovery network. The Grove also offers weekly outpatient and aftercare groups for people in sober living.
