About The Ed Keating Center Jean Marie House
Since 1998, The Ed Keating Center has served Ohio residents regardless of their ability to pay. The Ed Keating Center Jean Marie House is located in the small suburb of Brook Park, Ohio. Less than 15 miles outside of Cleveland you’ll find this supportive, sober living space for women battling addiction. As the newest facility in their nonprofit they strive to help you find healing among 44 peers in recovery.
Sober living homes offer a balance between independence and structure. Their three-month program provides peer support while encouraging you to advance in your journey. They require you to attend group meetings, nightly 12-Step meetings, and find an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) sponsor.
Once completing their initial program you’ll move on to their transitional program. This track provides ongoing support as you find employment, continue attending 12-Step meetings and participate in weekly aftercare meetings.
What stands out most to me is their emphasis on peer support. Seasoned peers with personal experiences in recovery host each group meeting. You’ll benefit from perspectives and insights from peers who were once in your shoes. You can share your story while learning from people you can resonate with.
Another amazing feature I noticed was their gender specific approach. Living in a space with other women on similar paths can help you feel comfortable and open up. It also provides a safe space to connect with other women and mutually support each other.
Most previous clients enjoyed their services. Many mentioned how the unwavering support from staff and peers was fundamental to their recovery. Some also felt that they played a part in saving their lives from the harms of addiction.
While the experiences of others can hold some weight in your decision, remember that recovery looks different for everyone. Be sure to research and consider multiple facilities to find the best fit for you.
