About The Coleman Institute Richmond
The Coleman Institute Richmond in Richmond, Virginia, was a detox center that offered accredited care to adults aged 18 and older. Until July 2024 you’d have found this center in central Virginia just 1.5 hours from Washington DC, and 1.5 hours from Virginia beach. This center was just one of Coleman’s many locations across the US.
Unlike other detox methods this center and Coleman’s other locations do not use general anesthesia on their clients. Instead they primarily engage FDA approved medications to help individuals manage their unpleasant withdrawal symptoms and cravings. For sustainable and long-term recovery their unique naltrexone therapy program is used alongside supportive case management to help clients after the withdrawal management phase. This type of treatment is known as medication assisted treatment or MAT. Naltrexone is a non-addictive opioid blocker favored by this facility, as it has fewer complications than the better-known methadone and buprenorphine. In fact Coleman also offers detox programs for these well known detoxing medications.
The shortest possible duration of detox here was three days which is ideal for clients who don’t want to put their lives on pause while they recover. They also offered flexible scheduling and appointments and an overall less expensive treatment cost. They also offered comfort medications tailored to clients’ withdrawal symptoms and their severity.
Individual and group therapy options were provided as well as targeted services to support specific veteran populations, such as homeless veterans. They also offered transitional support and care management for returning veterans.
As for what former clients have to say feedback was mostly very positive. Many praised the center’s caring and knowledgeable staff, with some even shouting out specific staff members by name for their stellar support, which is great to see.
