About The Bridge Northwood Residential Treatment Program
The Bridge Northwood Residential Program is a nonprofit, no-cost residential treatment for males 12 to 18 in Gadsden, Alabama. Boasting 50 years of experience, they’re certified and funded by the Alabama Department of Mental Health. Operating on 72 acres of land, this clinically managed, medium intensity facility offers 24-hour care and accepts clients from anywhere in the state.
Signing Up for 90 Days
The typical stay is 90 days, with no visitations during that time. Clients call home once or twice a week, and family therapy sessions are scheduled after two weeks in the program. Their multidisciplinary team is made up of licensed or credentialed staff, and employs such evidence based modalities as interactive journaling, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
Clients are kept to a strict daily schedule, including breaks for reflection and physical activity. Education is continued while in the program, including a partnership with Gadsden State Community College for GED prep.
Specialized Opioid Units
About 90 percent of addiction begins in the teenage years, and two out of three adults with an opioid use disorder first used when under the age of 25. For this reason, The Bridge has a specialized opioid unit within the Norwood program. They believe that adolescents deserve an atmosphere of unconditional caring. Young people in their programs are involved in setting their own care goals. Together, they seek to build healthy habits, and the social and emotional skills needed to form positive relationships
Amenities
Recreational therapy uniquely combines therapeutic interventions with an activity, like horse-riding, hiking, wilderness therapy, basketball, tennis, or a full workout. Benefits of recreational therapy include providing a healthy way to work through the emotions of recovery, learning to build and maintain relationships, improving communication skills, and building self-esteem.
Addiction treatment programs provide an opportunity to get your life back on track with access to school classes or college courses. Whether you want to finish your GED or go back to school to learn a new trade, facilities often enlist tutors and teachers who are certified or licensed by the state to oversee self-study or distance-learning education.
When paired with cognitive-behavioral therapy, exercise can be an effective tool for overcoming addiction. Drug rehabs with a gym offer clients healthy ways to increase energy levels, balance the body’s stress hormone levels, and aid in the brain’s healing process.
Private drug rehab provides a comfortable, secure environment that allows you to focus on doing the work to get your life back on track. Benefits include a higher staff-to-client ratio, increased one-on-one time with therapists and healthcare providers, private rooms for clients, and customized forms of therapy.
Residential drug rehab provides the comforts of home with the therapeutic support needed to successfully recover. Benefits of an inpatient program include increased safety, a higher success rate, and the time and distance given to focus on recovery. Residential drug rehabs are often the preferred method of treatment, as they can be tailored to meet specific needs, offer focused therapeutic care, and provide the necessary tools to sustain recovery.
In order to maintain a sense of autonomy, many private rehab facilities offer clients the ability to choose their own private rooms. The privacy and personal space ensure that the recovery process is as comfortable as possible.
