About Advocate Program, Inc. South Dade Office

Advocate Programs is a private not-for-profit justice agency offering a range of community support programs in Miami, Florida. The South Dade Office has outpatient addiction treatment, mental health care, DUI school, and child and family services. Specialized housing services are available for veterans. Outpatient counseling, substance abuse programs, and mental health evaluations help address behavioral health problems at every stage.

Specialty Substance Abuse and Mental Health Counseling

Services for adults begin with a comprehensive substance abuse and mental health evaluation. This department is known as the Advocate Program and includes an intensive outpatient program, as well as standard outpatient counseling. Different groups are available for domestic violence, anger control, parenting, and families.

Substance abuse treatment and aftercare are provided for the United States Probation and Pretrial Services System and the Florida Department of Corrections. One thing I’d like to note is that funds are available to cover costs for people who are uninsured or underinsured in Miami Dade County.

DUI Evaluations, Education, and Environment

Advocate’s DUI programs are licensed by the Department of Highway and Motor Vehicles. There are course levels one and two for individuals who have had one DUI offense or multiple DUI offenses. Level one includes 12 hours of instructional classes with a review of Florida’s DUI process and laws. Level two includes a review of level one and 21 hours of group-oriented education. They also focus on making healthy choices and special issues for repeat offenders.

Overall, people that have received services from the South Dade office for the Advocate Program say that it’s a professional organization with efficient programs. Another person mentioned it’s hard to get a hold of staff members over the phone.

It’s also neat how Miami has plenty of local amenities to build your recovery. I think it’s cool that you can visit the mall or head over to Cutler Ridge Park or other local greenspaces to decompress between sessions.

Addiction Treatment Programs

Adult Program

Treatment at an adult program in Florida addresses the needs of each individual as they work toward recovery. Programs are designed for men and women ages 18 and up, and include a variety of treatment protocols to match the severity of the addiction, type of substance, and personal situation.

Men's Rehab

Gender-specific addiction treatment gives men who are struggling with substance use disorders a connection point to other men with similar struggles. This common ground can make a huge impact on men’s rehab in Florida.

Women's Rehab

Often, women who have a substance use disorder also have a co-occurring disorder. Women’s rehab in Florida often addresses both the addiction and mental health disorder with dual diagnosis treatment.

Levels of Care

Outpatient Rehab

Outpatient rehab in Florida focuses on relapse prevention and long-term recovery. It typically includes several counseling sessions per week as well as membership in a support group such as NA or AA. This treatment can last several weeks or several months, based on your ongoing needs.

Dual Diagnosis & Mental Health

If you are struggling with both an addiction and a mental health disorder, treatment for dual diagnosis in Florida is necessary for successful recovery. This multidisciplinary approach treats both substance abuse and co-occurring disorders such as bipolar disorder, eating disorders, depression, or anxiety.

Aftercare & Alumni Program

During initial rehab treatment, you learn how to get sober. Aftercare rehab in Florida helps you learn how to stay sober. Through ongoing counseling, support groups, and life coaching, you’ll develop skills to maintain sobriety as you live a successful life in recovery. This support may last up to a year or more, to keep you on the right track.
