About Sunshine Terrace and Behavioral Health

Sunshine Terrace and Behavioral Health is in Spokane, Washington. This therapeutic community living facility helps adults cope with mental illness. They’ve been around since 1949 and treat adults with depression, eating disorders, psychosis, PTSD, co-occurring disorders and more. They’re part of the larger Sunshine Health Facilities, which provide assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation and inpatient behavioral health treatment.

While they can support clients with co-occurring substance use disorders, their primary focus is on mental health issues.

Their residential treatment program uses a variety of therapeutic approaches like cognitive (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Clients live on site and receive 24/7 supervision as well as a personalized treatment plan for the length of stay that is right for their needs.

They offer both shared and private suites, dayrooms for recreation and activities, a library, and sunny atrium. Residents get an all-inclusive meal plan, transportation for medical appointments, and case management.

You’ll take part in individual and group therapy that’s offered by mental health clinicians. You'll work with psychiatrists, social workers, psychiatric nurse practitioners, mental health technicians and more. There are also daily therapeutic activities like social and behavioral skills classes. You may take part in art projects, karaoke, and different kinds of activities that’ll develop your self confidence and ability to try new things.

While some former residents and family members have had life-enhancing experiences and said that staff were caring and professional, others felt the opposite.
